Scoring and rating bands

Set automatic scoring, section minimums, and human-readable rating bands.

Pro Updated May 8, 2026

Pulsera Assess auto-scores multiple choice, typing, Excel, pivot, data entry, checklist, and rating sections. You decide what counts and how to label the result.

How scoring works

Each scorable section contributes a number to the candidate's total. Multiple choice questions are worth their points value. Typing scores combine WPM and accuracy. Excel and pivot sections award points per correct cell.

Rating bands

Under the assessment editor's Scoring tab, you can define rating bands like Strong (80%+), Adequate (60-79%), Develop (below 60%). Each submission is then tagged with the band that matches its total score. Bands appear in results and on PDFs.

Section minimums

You can require that a candidate hit a minimum on specific sections regardless of their total. Useful when, for example, a low Excel score should disqualify someone even if their total is OK.

Manual override

Written sections cannot be auto-scored. They are flagged for manual review in the submission view, and you can mark each as Pass / Fail / Needs Discussion.
